Raw emotion is rare these days. To be genuine to ones authentic self is to somehow make others nervous. Whether it be outright rage or simply standing in place in a basic act of civil disobedience or just BEING. People who hate themselves will find reasons to hate on others that possess what they don’t. That is fact. Cultures have done it for centuries. Wars have been fought over bloodlines. People have been killed because they were something that the attacker was not.
Feelings are not the issue.
The mind and heart that project the aforementioned are the modalities used to project what lays within. If one is rotten to the core, rot and decay will be what is conveyed. If one is love and light, then joy, life and peace prevail
No one ever has the right to silence the message that is within another individual. If it is extremely offensive and biligerent the former may need to be revisited. However, the insecurities of onlookers has apparently created a world of hyper sensitive, overly frightened individuals who geniuinely do not know HOW to grow up.
An athlete, especially in the professional ranks has endured a journey that requires celebration when achievement has been earned. Coaches yell and often play various mental games to get the athlete to perform in the manner THEY deem suitable for their team. An athlete must reinvent him or herself every single time they are introduced to a new athletic program, plan, play or principle. WORK is involved…and how dare someone with “less talent” ever question the abilities of that athlete who has endured a customized journey that may or may not have been similar to the one criticizing.
Beyond that fact the media has a done a deplorable job with spinning the entire episode as some angry black man gloating over a win that defeated their opponent. Instead the story of Richard Sherman’s rise from abject urban survival to earning a Master’s degree and graduating with an impressive GPA from STANFORD UNIVERSITY became of no use to the media vultures.
In an instant this intelligent King was reduced to a “Monkey” (via Twitter). Intellectualism at its finest.
…IT doesn’t always translate, especially to those who have never known what IT is….
I wrote an expression on Facebook that is relevant to the aforementioned:
I saw a demon last night. I was unfettered nor unmoved when it hurled hatred towards me. Because I have encountered that type of awesome ugliness before there was nothing to do but SHOW IT PEACE.
Strangely onlookers applauded my stance as some kind of rare thing or some kind of unexpected retort. Why does it surprise people that violence was not the first resort? Everyone doesn’t reach for that weapon first…but it is in the arsenal if all other efforts fail.
I encountered a demon last night and beat it with calm. There is nothing so invincible as a woman who KNOWS IT WHEN SHE SEES IT AND LAYS PRAYERS ON IT RATHER THAN HANDS FIRST.
#MLKtaughtmethat #parents #grandparents #forefathersandMOTHERS #Peace
….but let it come again…the outcome might be drastically different! It all depends.
