The layers that exist for many of us, are untold and misunderstood.
I remember asking my mother at the age of five, what were we? She perceived that to mean that I thought I was white, when in actuality I saw that there was no one in my school that looked like me. I wanted to know my/our composition. The kids never made fun of me nor made me feel like an outcast, however, I always felt ‘different’ because I wasn’t chocolate nor was I vanilla. Instead I was/am caramel as a result of years and years of mixed raced genetic “engineering”.
We either live with it or learn how to make it work for us. What cannot happen is for one to believe that it is in any way a curse or detriment to be WHO YOU ARE INTENDED TO BE BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE ALMIGHTY!
