Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929. He brought awareness and served as the catalyst to changing the injustices that kept black people relegated as second class citizens. He was purposed by peace and commissioned by the ultimate authority on all matters.
The world that he thought would ‘play together’ seem to have found a way to war about any opposing view, no matter how trivial. For that and the numerous atrocities that attempt to keep the people hopeless, apologies. There are those among us, who embrace all facets of your philosophical doctrine. The challenges to continue the fight are cloaked in false senses of comfort because we have access to certain venues. However the game has changed. Economic, real estate, incarceration, education and self image continue to keep us bound. The tactics aren’t new but the level by which the corporations and big businesses use are even more oppressive than when you were here.
There is no way that ‘doing our best’ can be stated. We’ve dropped the ball and many have no interest in going back THERE, but we are going backwards even with advances.
The fight still persists. We cannot believe that the entangled battle for human equity is completed- especially when women still suffer throughout the world, people who have differences of ANY KIND are still labeled, judged and stigmatized. There are many things to be done to ensure the safety of EVERY child not just those in areas deemed ‘unsafe’.
Though there is much still left to do, it must be acknowledged that your work hoped for what we now worry to achieve, obtain, and/or retain. Perceptions still cause discrimination on the jobs that were fought to be reformed in equality.
The promiseland has not yet arrived but we definitely are nowhere near where we were. We must work to hold onto what should never be questionably lost.
