An unidentified CEO of a Las Vegas company has done the unthinkable in light of the results from the 2012 Presidential elections.
“David,” whose full name and company have yet to be disclosed, told radio host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT that he fired 22 of his 114 employees as a direct result of Obama’s win, arguing that “elections have consequences” and that he needs “to survive.” “David” refused to identify himself for “obvious reasons,” according to the radio station.
“I had to lay off 22 people today to make sure that my business is gonna thrive and I’m gonna be around for years to come,” the CEO said. “I have to build up that nest egg now for the taxes and regulations that are coming my way.”
The work of the foot soldiers sent by the United States Department of Justice has an obligation to investigate every single similar claim that is presented. The right to vote and work should not be predicated on whether or not a supervisor can hold one’s decision ‘hostage’ for the sake of remaining employed. That is capital injustice! It is abundantly apparent that the strong arm tactics of old have become morphed into some covert subtly that strongly impacts the lives of not only that person but the community from whence they belong as well.
The mindset must change. No longer can personal sentiment drive the success of companies and government. ‘What is best for the people?” -should be the question that ultimately dictates best practices within organizations.
It is with every fiber of my being that anyone caught exacting these type of Jim Crow tactics be categorically punished to the fullest letter of the law. It is 2012, not 1812! Move the dissenters to a reservation of their own, if they continue to be a problem instead of a solution.
