Though new and innovative security systems may be warranted to combat perceived threats, it is definitely of concern that this particular system was “forced” upon the people traveling within and around the US.
No one has stated what the long term effects of exposure to this type of radiation would have on individuals who travel often or who have compromised immune systems. When attending the doctor’s office, they provide a lead vest for us to put on to ensure that the radiation does not have type of residual effects. In this type of scanning, there aren’t any similiar types of precautions taken to keep people safe from overexposure.
This reminds me alot of the H1N1 FRENZY! Did/Do we really need all of this extra stuff or is some big business profiting from our blind following?!?!
Not to mention the fact that this practice compromises every privacy act that currently exists.
What happens to the scanned images? Are they harbored in some other computer though they allege that the images cannot be saved, downloaded, or copied. That definitely can’t be accurate since given the intended purpose of the scanner, if a suspect or someone suspicious comes through said scanner the image will have to be recouped to prove whether or not the scanner was effective in detecting anything that could potentially have harmed travelers.
