The morbid infatuation with all things dead are being quickly embraced by pop culture. The world is trying to glamorize those dark things that we have been warned to avoid. The preservation of our very souls depends on our ability to restrain our cravings to appease curious wonderings.
Underworld I & II, Rise of the Lycans, all of the little vampire triologies, Harry Potter’s wizardry, skulls and cross bones literally stitched into the hems of each child’s garment, dabbling in the accult and exploring the realms of the unrested dead with shows like Ghost Hunters, Paranormal activity and Ghost Hauntings. Are we that easily led assunder now that religion has been extracted from the operational function of American culture?
Ok so some of the story lines are pretty intriguing and even lend some fundamentally philosophical perspectives. However, at the end of the day what are we allowing to enter our moral filter? Is the moral filter that we have strong enough to cipher those things that are diabolically out of the normal concept of spiritual damage? Even with the best filters some residual sediment always finds it way back into the main ebb and flow….tainting that which the filter was supposed to make pure.
There is absolutely an unseen power that throws the most peaceful situation, circumstance or person into a spiraling abyss of chaos and confusion. People have made it “popular” to believe at those dark things and discredit or disbelieve the truth and light. Say what you will…and please note that this entry is not an effort to convert anyone unwilling to join the ranks. The fact remains that beyond flesh and blood there exists a spiritual realm. This culture of ours appears to be experimenting with just how much they can get away with before those “forces” make themselves apparent.
