Standardized tests have long been a thorn in the side of african american and latino students. The biased measurement instruments used nationally have provided a very distorted image of the success rates of children of color within current academic environments. Though this gain is to be celebrated, there really shouldn’t be a need. It is an uphill battle for those sitting in the average U.S. classroom. The social influences that are causing our children to unperform are the issues that need to be rectified, remedied, and reclaimed.
