With so many other things going on and wrong within many American cities, is it the wisest thing to do to slap up a multi million dollar facility in the midst of an economic crisis? Is it prudent to spend money on something that will be under utilized in the future when there are so many other more pressing issues like reforming education, food programs, correctional facilities and medical services for the working class citizens of this country?
It is certain that the president and the first lady…and Oprah dear too had the best intentions by trying to inject Chicago with some economic tourism. However, it takes money to make money and did the windy city have what it took to pull of a stellar presentation? Perhaps Oprah planned to fund most of it with her own money, but even that could be put into the city pot with a special designation to improve the aforementioned.
If bringing urban cities into economic fortitude is on the agenda, it is strongly proposed that we TEACH folks how to sustain themselves so that the communities will be self sufficient and thrive without the broken training wheels that have been the governments contributions to “fixing” the problems.
The beating death of the young 16 year old certainly did not help the cause.
